Q: Do I need prior boating experience to drive?
A: No prior experience is required! Our controls are simple and intuitive, and our team provides a mandatory safety briefing and hands-on orientation before you launch so you feel completely confident at the helm.
Q: How does the adventure operate?
A: We ride in a guided convoy. Your lead captain commands the front pace boat, navigating the route and spotting wildlife, while you and your crew follow close behind in your own mini speedboat.
Q: Where do tours depart?
A: Tours depart from Carolina Beach Boatyard & Marina (unless alternative coordinates are set for a custom charter). Your confirmation email will include exact dock numbers, map pins, and parking instructions.
Q: How early should I arrive?
A: Arrive 30 minutes prior to your launch time. This ensures a stress-free check-in, gear setup, and mandatory safety briefing. Late arrivals who miss orientation cannot join the departure and will not be refunded.
Q: What is your cancellation and weather policy?

Cancellations: Cancel or reschedule up to 72 hours before departure for a full refund or credit. Within 72 hours, bookings are non-refundable unless Adventure Protection was purchased.

Weather: If high winds, heavy rain, or lightning compromise safety, your captain will pause or cancel the tour for a 100% refund or reschedule. We still run through light, passing showers!
Q: What is Adventure Protection?
A: Adventure Protection is an optional checkout upgrade that lets you cancel or reschedule your ride up to 2 hours before launch for a full refund or credit—no questions asked.
Q: How many boats are in the fleet?
A: We have 6 dual-passenger speedboats: Blacktip, 'Cuda, Mako, Seahawk, Stingray, and Wahoo.
Q: Will my tour run if I am the only boat booked?
A: Yes! As long as water and weather conditions are safe, single-boat bookings turn into a private guided tour with your captain at no extra cost.
Q: How will I communicate with the Captain during the ride?
A: Every boat features an easy-to-hear marine radio at the helm for real-time directions and tour highlights. We also cover simple, universal hand signals during your dockside briefing.
Q: Can I take the boat out without a guide?
A: No. All mini speedboats remain together in a guided group for safety and navigation. However, you still enjoy full control of your throttle, top speeds, and steering!
Q: Are fuel or safety gear extra?
A: No. Fuel, USCG-approved life jackets, and safety gear are all included in your booking price with zero hidden fees.
Q: What is the difference between a rental, a tour, and a MACH1 Adventure?

ON-BOARD RULES & PREPARATION
Q: What are the age requirements to drive or ride?

To Drive: Must be 21+ with a valid government-issued photo ID (no boating license required).

To Ride: Passengers must be at least 5 years old.
Q: Do I have to drive fast, or can I take it easy?
A: You dictate the ride! Whether you want to open up the throttle in open water, cruise gently to spot wildlife, or take in a sunset, you set your own pace.
Q: How fast do the mini speedboats go?
A: Our fleet can reach speeds up to 25–35 MPH on open water! Because you sit low to the waterline, 25 MPH feels exhilarating while remaining stable and easy to steer.
Q: Can we switch drivers during the ride?
A: Yes! As long as both guests are 21+ and attended the safety briefing, your guide will designate a calm zone mid-tour where you can safely swap seats at the helm.
Q: What should I wear and bring?

Wear: Quick-dry athletic apparel or swimsuits (you will get splashed!). Bring layers for cooler/windy days.

Footwear: Secure, strapped footwear is mandatory (water shoes, sports sandals with heel straps, or sneakers). Flip-flops, heels, and scuffing boots are prohibited.

Bring: Valid photo ID, towel, sunglasses (with a strap!), sunscreen, water bottle, and a dry bag.
Q: Can we bring food, drinks, or valuables?

Snacks & Drinks: Small snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are welcome in your dry storage container. Glass is strictly prohibited—use cans, plastic, or stainless steel vessels.

Valuables: Keep major valuables in your car ashore. While on-board storage is provided for small items, MACH1 is not liable for lost or water-damaged electronics.

Smoking/Vaping: All MACH1 operations and vessels are 100% smoke-free and vape-free.
Q: Will my phone or camera get wet?
A: Expect light ocean spray! Every boat has a dry-storage compartment, but we highly recommend bringing a waterproof phone pouch or dry bag for extra protection.
SAFETY, HEALTH & ACCESSIBILITY
Q: Is the ride safe?
A: Absolutely. Our speedboats are built for stability and easy handling. Combined with our dockside briefing, hands-on training, and a USCG-certified captain leading the convoy, safety is always our top priority.
Q: Is there a restroom on board?
A: No. There are no restrooms on individual mini speedboats. Please use the marina facilities ashore before our safety briefing begins.
Q: Are there physical restrictions?
A: Because our craft navigate active wakes on plane, the ride is active and kinetic. Tours are not recommended for pregnant guests or individuals with severe back, neck, or heart conditions.
Q: What is the weight limit?
A: The total combined weight limit per craft is 435 lbs.
Q: What is your life jacket policy?
A: Per USCG regulations, personal flotation devices are supplied for all guests. Children under 13 must wear a life jacket at all times while underway. We supply comfortable, custom-fitted life jackets ranging from young children to adults.

Consuming alcohol or controlled substances before or during deployment is strictly prohibited. Anyone suspected of being under the influence will be barred from launch immediately with no refund.

Q: Do you offer private group charters or corporate events?
A: Yes! You can reserve our entire fleet exclusively for corporate team-building, family reunions, or private celebrations to set your own pace and itinerary.
Q: How many people can you accommodate at once?
A: Our 6 dual-passenger speedboats can accommodate up to 12 guests on the water simultaneously. For larger groups, we execute back-to-back staggered launches with a shoreside staging area.
Q: Can we customize a private charter route?
A: Absolutely. Full-fleet charters let you pick the vibe—whether that's a high-speed run through deep channels, a relaxed wildlife cruise, or a dedicated sunset tour.
Q: What is the policy for booking a large group?
